Chamber Players Ensemble
Date(s) - 25/09/2018
7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
A selection of carefully selected chamber music by Haydn, Martinu and Mendelssohn, specially chosen for the wonderful acoustics of the Grand Entrance Hall. In contrast to last year’s stormy and beautifully intense programme, the music this year is buoyant and uplifting. Opening the concert Haydn’s Sunrise Quartet, and closing with Mendelssohn’s joyful 2nd Quintet.
Haydn, op 76, no. 4; Martinu Serenata, no. 2; Mendelssohn Quintet no. 2.
Hartmut Ometzberger, Lucy Melvin, Oakki Lau, Geoffrey Irwin and Robin Michael come together for this fund raising concert. The Thames Tunnel was known as the eighth wonder of the world when it opened in 1843. In this time, the Brunels did not just build bridges and tunnels, they organised concert parties, dance events, underwater banquets. Recent renovations have greatly improved public access, and the Tunnel is quickly becoming a highly sought after location for concerts.
The chamber is underground and can be chilly, so please dress warmly.
