Summer Play Scheme

Children learn through play at the Brunel Museum Summer playscheme

Every summer we run a two-week Play Scheme celebrating the Thames Tunnel Fancy Fair of 1852. This year the Play Scheme is free for children in Southwark, but parents must register for the scheme. There will be games and other activities, and children will be safe and supervised at all times.

Parents/carers need to register their child at the start of each day (registration will take place in the Museum between 9.00am-9.15am). As usual we will work principally with 7 -11 year old children from the local area. The activities will take place inside the museum and outside on the paved and grassed areas. Children should wear old and comfortable clothes for messy work, and bring their own packed lunch. We will provide drinks for morning and afternoon breaks.

Numbers are limited to 25 places and children can sign up for one week, or for part of the first week as school holidays vary this year. On the first day, parents/carers will need to sign a consent form with details about trips, any special dietary requirements or allergies, and emergency contact details.

With the children’s help we are turning the area around the Museum into a garden for everyone to use. We look forward to welcoming you to another exciting summer in the gardens outside the Museum.
