Three of these five tangy, opinionated, international women will excite with their sultry vocals and versatile musicianship: Katerina Clambaneva (vocals), Muzmee (violin) and Olympia Tsarouchi (guitar and vocals). With Greek roots music at this trio’s core and all the traditions and historical worlds it touches.
Jyotsna Srikanth’s “Bangalore Dreams”
Wed 20th November
Jyotsna Srikanth is the most sought after Indian violinist in Europe (she’s played for nearly 200 films) & is intensely rooted in Carnatic classical music from Southern India, which she fuses with her knowledge of Western music. Here with two musicians from India, Shadrach Solomon (keyboards) & Karthik Mani (percussion), her meaningful orchestration & rhythm have the flavour and appeal of a balanced blend of East and West.
Wed 27th November
These two accomplished guitarists Maciek Pysz (Poland) and Gianluca Corona (Italy) and percussion maestro Demi Garcia (Spain) share a passion for acoustic world rhythms. Expect an evening of original music as well songs by Ennio Morricone, Ralph Towner & Egberto Gismonti: beautiful & touching melodies and intricate Latin rhythms played with passion and fire.
Wed 4th December
Cigdem Aslan has just launched an album, “Mortissa”, to rave reviews. Here she will perform Smyrnaic and Rebetiko songs from Asia Minor and Greece accompanied by Nikos Baimpas (Kanun) and Michalis Kouloumis (violin), two experts of the genre. Expect an evening of improvisations that you might find in the café amans of Istanbul or Athens.
Wed 18th December
Alexis Constantinou is a stunning and very versatile vocalist. He & his band hail from a gospel & pop background and will be singing some well-known covers from a choice blend of pop / soul / funk and lounge jazz. This special Christmas performance promises to be a real treat.
