Director’s Diary: Song in Miner Key

The Grand Entrance Hall or Shaft echoes with fine tenor voices as miners with hard hats and high vis jackets take their audience further and deeper. Stirring stuff like the Coldstream Guards in 1827 (Brunel’s famous underwater concert party). Above and Below is an operatic piece of great beauty and power from Aitch Productions, in development and returning here later in the year. Meanwhile, above and below ground, we have heritage boat trips, film screenings and cocktail events and a reading of feminist text by Victoria Sin.
