Director’s Diary: Happy Birthday ICE

The Institution of Civil Engineers is two hundred years old this year and a series of four lectures look at how Civil Engineers have shaped London. The first lecture on Tuesday called How London’s pioneers built our city looks at what current day civil engineers can learn from the past as they strive to ensure London’s continued growth and resilience. I am panellist and will speak about the extraordinary contribution of Three Brunels https://www.ice.org.uk/events/how-londons-pioneers-built-our-city 
The Thames has been cold as well as pretty these last few days. The Museum stayed open but it has been quiet and sometimes rather testing! This week seems set to be milder, and that’s lucky because we have five schools visiting. And in a snug and heated Grand Entrance Hall we welcome back Secret Adventures, who serve up three beautiful films about keeping warm, as well hot toddies and cocktails. Time Out reviews.
On Friday South London Jazz return, and as usual there are boat trips and river walks each day. Spring will soon be here! The calendar for the week is below:
