Director’s Diary: Not Drowning but Gardening

This week Secret Film Adventures sold out with a picnic in Brunel Gardens, and below the Gardens three short films about swimming and surviving. All this in the most appropriate of places, where Brunel nearly drowned. The gardens are looking really beautiful at the moment, and we do have the biggest blue picnic table (seats twenty people) and the best cocktail bar. The films were very idiosyncratic: The Swimming Granny with wild swimming for the over eighties. North of the Sun where two Norwegians surf in the Arctic Circle. And then we Swam when two friends row across the Indian Ocean…

Meanwhile children from Westfield Primary and Hazelmere Nursery visited and Heritage boat trips and river walks were busy this week in the fine weather. On Friday the Railway Heritage judges asked many questions about the painting/restoration of the chimney and we hope it wins an award.

The roof garden is the nicest place to be this hot weather, and Midnight Apothecary sold out both nights. Book early for next week!

Next week we have three archaeology groups, and the usual heritage boat trips, details below. On Friday MA students from Goldsmiths College present an exploration of Chinese and British shared history in verse, art and performance.
