Museum Tour
Beneath the museum runs the Thames Tunnel, the oldest tunnel in use on the London undeground system.
The museum's building contained the steam engines used to keep pumping the Thames Tunnel dry of water.
Next to it lies the shaft where tunneling began and which we are expanding into.
There is a Blue plaque commemorating Isambard kingdom Brunel presented by Southwark council after a public voteThe grounds contain the ship of blueprints, the frankenstein tree and models of Brunel's bridges as benches.
The Museum is located close to Rotherhithe station on what was the East London Line. The railway is currently closed as part of a massive investment program that will create the London Overgound due to open in 2010.
Finally, the museum is accessible to visitors in wheel chairs.
